The Cravat Is In His Gym Bag

I'm guessing he's a lifeguard? Perfect.

Sewmanity Will Miss You, Mr. McQueen

We here are in mourning for the passing of revolutionary designer, Alexander McQueen. I became a fan of his clothes when I happen to chance upon a shirt one day at Century 21 in NYC. Sure, it was probably a season old, but it was black and classic and had a unique twist that made it just a bit different. Since then, whenever I'm in NYC I try to pop into the McQueen boutique in the Meat Packing district to browse, take a catalog or two, and maybe, just maybe if I had skipped buying something at MOSS I would buy a pair of sunglasses or a scarf.

Thank you Mr. McQueen. Your mens shows were always amazing to behold and your clothes even more so. I will miss the edge/slight costume/over the top effort you put into your designs. Your legend will live on through all the creativity you left behind. You will be missed.

Your Photo of the Day

I don't know why I have such a fetish for well dressed men on bicycles (see post with Billy Zane). Maybe it's cause I'm trying to be more of an avid bicyclist myself. Or maybe it's just refreshing to see someone on two wheels not clad in head to toe spandex? Anyhoo Justin Bartha here needs an ascot to complete his look. Anyone know how I can get ahold of him?

Cheers!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Greetings Followers of Sewmanity!

Apologies for being absent for soo long. The weather here in Northern Cali has been soo horrendous that I just don't want to do anything but work on my rug project (I'm latch hooking a new area rug for my living room).

Anyhoo, found some loverly vintage Pendleton Wool yardage at our local yearly rummage sale. I was a madman running around with tons of fabrics in my arms! I'm planning on maybe making vests and jodphors....

Also, my partner found some lovely vintage silk with a Chinoiserie print on it. It's simply begging to be made into an 18th century vest.

Well, expect updates to the Etsy page soon. I'm back on the sewing wagon and will add new styles soon.

Cheers!

Sewmanity loves: Chateau Thombeau

Found this website while surfing the net. It's full of wonderful inspirations old and new! Full of fashion, wonderful vintage pics and the odd transexual music video every once in a while.

Cheers!
